Welcome letter from CRX08 Chairman

I am pleased to invite you to be part of the meeting that is fast becoming the Australian research community's premier event, Clinical Research Excellence 2008 - CRX08, now in its second year. At this meeting, individuals who are actually involved in undertaking leading-edge research, can meet and take the opportunity to network with their peers and learn from their shared experience.

An important component of CRX08 will be the abstract presentations and I invite you to submit a paper for consideration at this important meeting.

The inaugural conference in 2007 attracted over 400 delegates from 102 national and international clinical research organisations. It featured a mix of 39 speakers including two international speakers and a busy trade exhibition of a diverse menu of clinical research providers and services. 47% of last year’s delegates from research and hospital and over 24% from CR organisations and pharmaceutical and biotech companies – a strong clinical research industry attendance.

In 2008, this national event will again provide a forum for extensive discussion surrounding a wide range of clinical research issues that are of key relevance to researchers, practitioners and industry. CRX08 will build on the strengths and successes of last year’s meeting with a wide range of sessions designed specifically for industry collaboration and relationship building opportunities being added to the program.

CRX08 is the pre-eminent conference for the Clinical Research industry across in Australia in 2008.

I look forward to your submission and attendance at CRX Brisbane 2008.

Yours sincerely

Peter Ebeling

Welcome letter from the Premier of Queensland

Queensland, Australia’s Smart State, is establishing a reputation that ranks with the world’s best in life science research and development.

Having experienced the most sustained period of growth and prosperity ever recorded in the State’s history, my Government recognises we must also continue to diversify our economic base and harness the potential of our knowledge industries.

Our Smart State vision recognises that knowledge, creativity and innovation have the potential to improve our prosperity and the quality of life enjoyed by Queenslanders and people around the world.

Holding events such as the 2008 Clinical Research Excellence Conference (CRX08) gives researchers the important opportunity to network, as well as to develop stronger links with Queensland.

My Government keenly supports the work of this year’s host sponsor Queensland Clinical Trials Network Inc in bringing this important event to Queensland.

CRX08 will showcase our many talents and it will give Australia’s leading researchers a chance to learn more about investment opportunities, jobs and potential collaborations with the Smart State.

We encourage you to be involved in the many aspects of the conference – perhaps submit an abstract presentation, attend the plenary sessions, be involved in the workshops or even stay on for the satellite event hosted by the British Association of Research Quality Assurance.

Thank you for your support to make CRX08 the most important Clinical Research Conference on the Australian calendar.

All the best for a productive CRX08 and I hope you all enjoy visiting the Smart State.

Anna Bligh MP, Premier of Queensland, Australia
